I was born and raised in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. The city’s architecture, diverse culture, and history of racial tensions has influenced my art. I consider my work “outsider art” because I had little formal art training.
What makes my art different is that it combines modern digital art with many old school processes and techniques. I usually begin with black & white film photography and then add layers of color with a combination of a digital process and old school techniques like acrylic airbrush, ink silk screen, encaustic paint, oil & acrylic text stenciling or repurposed images from magazines or the web. Some of my pieces end as digital art and some as physical art.
What I want to convey is imagery that reflects my interpretation of the current young urban American zeitgeist with an erotic twist.
