I was born and raised in Chicago and its surrounding suburbs. The city’s architecture, diverse culture, and history of racial tensions has influenced my art. I consider my work “outsider art” because I had little formal art training.
What makes my art different is that it combines many old school processes and techniques. I begin with black & white film photography and then add acrylic airbrush, ink silk screen, encaustic paint, oil & acrylic text stenciling or repurposed images from magazines or the web.
What I want to convey is imagery that reflects my interpretation of the current young urban American zeitgeist.
